Aifric was born in Ireland. She moved to Sweden where she completed a Linguistics degree and lectured in semantics at the University of Göteborg. She spent 13 years as an investment banker before leaving to study psychotherapy and creative writing where she was awarded her PhD. She lives in Sussex where she teaches at the University.

Her first novel, The Semantics of Murder was shortlisted for the 2008 Glen Dimplex New Writing awards. Her most recent novel The Loss Adjustor was published in February 2010.
