Jennifer Johnston is one of the foremost Irish writers of her generation. She has won the Whitbread Prize for The Old Jest. Other awards include: The Evening Standard Best First Novel Award and the Yorkshire Post Award for The Captain and the Kings. Other novels include Shadows On Our Skin which was shortlisted for the Booker Prize, How Many Miles to Babylon?, The Invisible Worm, The Gingerbread Woman, This is Not a Novel and Grace and Truth which was short-listed for the Kerry Group Irish Fiction Award. Her latest novel Truth or Fiction was published in 2009.
