Lloyd Jones currently lives in Berlin
on a New Zealand Writer’s Residency. Ordinarily, he lives
in Wellington, New Zealand. He travelled to Papua New Guinea at
the outset of the blockade and visited the island twice ten years
later; once, to visit the New Zealand Peacekeeping mission, the
second time to stay with Sam Kauona, the military leader of the
Bougainville Revolutionary Army. His latest novel, published in
2007 to mass critical acclaim, Mister Pip is an unforgettable
tale of survival. It was short-listed for the Booker Prize 2007
and winner of the Common Wealth Writers’ Prize.
