Was born in London and raised in Nenagh, Co.Tipperary. He attended Ardcroney NS and St. Joseph's CBS and studied philosophy in UCG, where he was a founder of the rock group Toasted Heretic.

He now lives in Berlin. His novel Jude: Level 1 was published in July 2007.

Was the winner of the UK's 2007 National Short Story Prize for The Orphan and the Mob.
