Listowel Writers' Week, in association with The Arts Council of Ireland and Kerry County Council, is organising the first ever Writers' Week One Act Play Competition.

This is a fantastic opportunity for writers everywhere to write a short play and see it come to life in front of a live theatre audience. The competition is open to all writers, regardless of experience. Beginners, amateurs and seasoned professionals are all free to enter.

Prize

Winning entries will receive a staged reading during Writers' Week Festival 2006, directed by a professional theatre director with professional actors.

Rules

1. An entry form is NOT required for this competition.

 

2. This competition is for one-act plays only.

 

3. There is no specification as to the theme of the plays. Entrants are free to write on whatever themes they wish.

 

4. Plays submitted must NOT exceed 20 minutes in duration. As a rough guideline each typed page reads at a minute to a minute and a half.

5. Entries submitted must NOT have been previously published or produced.

6. Entries must be typed.

7. Entries will NOT be returned.

8. Two bound copies of the play must be submitted. No indication of the entrant's identity may appear on the play. (The entrants' name, address, contact details and the name of the play should be submitted on a seperate sheet).

9. Entries must be in Irish or in English/Is féidir iontrálacha a bheith i mBéarla nó i nGaeilge.

10. Please identify the category of Entry as "Writers' Week One Act Play Competition"

11. The Entry Fee of €15 must be included with the entry, otherwise the entry will not be forwarded to the Adjudicator.

12. Entrants may not submit more than one play.

13. The Adjudicator's verdict is final.

14. Winners ONLY will be notified.

15. No correspondence shall be entered into regarding competition entries.

16. No winning entries will be selected if an appropriate standard is not achieved.

17. Writers' Week reserves the right to withhold or publish winning entries in the publication "Winners Anthology 2006".

18. All cheques should be made payable to "Writers Week". Please do not send cash.
