Featuring: Robert Ballagh, Michael D Higgins, Judith Mok and Seán Óg Ó hAilpín in addition to other participants at Writers' Week. Chaired by: Sean Love, Executive Director, Amnesty Ireland. This is a new and exciting event in collaboration with Amnesty Ireland, some of the best known names in literature, sport and cinema come together to read from the work of writers banned, imprisoned or murdered for expressing their views. This event will give a critical insight into traditional and present-day threats to freedom of expression. Amnesty International’s vision is of a world in which every person enjoys all of the human rights enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and other international human rights standards. Amnesty is independent of any government, political ideology, economic interest or religion. It is concerned solely with the impartial protection of human rights. |
